Finding Balance in Stressful Times:

Support for Leaders and Teams

Hello and welcome back to our Lr Newsletter. We’ve been hearing from many of our clients lately that stress levels are at an all-time high — not just for leaders, but for employees across the board. We wanted to take a moment to acknowledge that it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed, especially when so much is being asked of you. We’ve all been there. It can feel like there’s no room to breathe when the demands of work, family, and life all come at once.

Stress, while a natural part of life, can become an exhausting weight if left unchecked. It’s important to remember that stress in itself isn’t always a bad thing. In fact, some stress can push us to grow, adapt, and achieve things we might not have thought possible. But too much stress — especially when we allow it to consume our thoughts — can impact our well-being and keep us stuck in a cycle of overwhelm.

When we spend our time rehashing past stressful experiences or worrying about what might come next, we give stress more power over us. It’s like trying to outrun a shadow; the more we focus on it, the larger it looms. The mind’s natural instinct is to protect us, but sometimes it holds on too tightly, making it difficult to move forward with clarity or ease.

So, how can we break this cycle and create more space to breathe?

While we can’t completely eliminate stress, we can change how we manage and respond to it by using the right tools and strategies. Here are a few approaches to consider:

Get Curious and Check In With Yourself

When stress builds, it’s easy to get caught in a whirlwind of emotions and thoughts. Take a moment to pause and ask yourself: “What am I truly feeling right now?” Tune into your physical body, your emotional state, and the thoughts running through your mind. Simply acknowledging these can create a sense of distance from stress and give you more control over it.

Practice Self-Care

Self-care refers to things we practice regularly to reduce stress and maintain physical and mental well-being. The Self-Care Wheel is Positive Psychology tool that helps us focus on nurturing different parts of ourselves from a holistic perspective of self-care that offer a simple action plan to manage stress and help you lead a more balanced everyday life. Even small acts of self-care, like taking a brief walk, stepping outside for fresh air, or pausing for a few moments of deep breathing, can have a profound impact. It’s these small, intentional actions that refill our inner resources.

Leverage Healthy Coping Skills

Having healthy coping strategies are essential. Whether it’s deep breathing, journaling, mindfulness, or talking things through with someone you trust, these techniques can help us reset. Even something as simple as a five-minute break to stretch or ground yourself can make all the difference in navigating stressful moments.

At Leadership Reinvented, we like to think of self-care as filling our own cup. When we take time to prioritize our well-being, we ensure that our cup stays full. A full cup allows us to bring our best selves into everything we do — whether that’s leading our teams, supporting our families, or handling personal responsibilities. When our cup is full, we’re able to show up with energy, clarity, and resilience.

On the other hand, when we neglect self-care, our cup starts to empty. We’ve all experienced it: when we’re running on empty, it becomes harder to focus, harder to be patient, and harder to support those around us. Our interactions suffer, both in our professional and personal lives, and we’re more likely to feel overwhelmed and exhausted.

We’ve found that when we make self-care a priority, it not only replenishes our energy but also enhances our ability to uplift and support others. Whether it’s through small daily practices like a mindful walk or a moment of stillness, or more intentional efforts like taking time off, self-care is essential for maintaining the balance that allows us to thrive.

We encourage you to reflect on how you’re filling your own cup. Remember, when you come from a place of fullness, you can give so much more — to your work, your loved ones, and yourself.

We’re here to support you through the challenges. Whether through individual or group coaching, we can help you and your team navigate stress and build resilience. We also offer customized training programs tailored to the unique needs of your business and employees, helping everyone find balance in these demanding times.

We're here for you.

Warmly,

Melissa and Kevin

Navigating the New Year

Navigating the New Year January 2025 Newsletter Happy New Year! It feels like we just celebrated the holidays, but here we are, already kicking off a brand new year. We're not big advocates of traditional New Year's resolutions. They often set us up to focus solely on what we want to change during a moment of excitement, only for that momentum to fade after a week or two. Instead of resolutions, we encourage setting intentions. Intentions are guiding principles or areas of focus that we wish...

Did you know? Differences in work styles and preferences are one of the top causes of misalignment in teams.
